How is the ADOS-2 assessment conducted?
The assessment takes place in the form of live interaction between a specialist and a child or adult.
The specialist offers:
- play scenarios
- communicative tasks
- social situations
It all looks like a regular game or conversation, but has a clear structure.
Important:
- this is not a knowledge test or a “check” of the child
- there are no “right” or “wrong” answers
- natural behavior is assessed
An appropriate module is selected for each patient:
- for children without speech
- for children with phrase speech
- for adolescents and adults
Duration of the assessment
The duration depends on age and module:
- from 60 minutes — the ADOS-2 administration itself
- additional time — scoring and report preparation
Overall, the visit may take longer if it is part of a comprehensive diagnostic evaluation.
