Electroencephalography in children (EEG)

Electroencephalography in children is a method based on the registration of electrical impulses of the brain neurons, which allows you to study its activity.

The DEVELOPMENT Centre uses an electroencephalograph indicated for use in paediatric practice – BRAINTEST: a modern high-tech electronic medical device that provides high quality EEG recording.

How EEG procedure is performed in children

The procedure of EEG in children is as follows: the patient is placed in a comfortable chair, a cap with attached sensors is put on his head. These sensors read electrical vibrations from different parts of the brain. The results of the study are displayed graphically. EEG is completely harmless and has no contraindications.

EEG indications

Indications for conducting an EEG are:

  • insomnia, as well as other sleep disorders;
  • cerebral vascular diseases;
  • head injuries;
  • psychiatric disorders;
  • paroxysmal manifestations (epileptic seizures, etc.);
  • neuroses;
  • vegeto-vascular dystonia;
  • frequent headaches, dizziness, episodes of fainting;
  • degenerative and dysfunctional disorders;
  • brain lesions (tumours, inflammations, neuroinfections, poisoning, etc.);
  • some other diseases and conditions.

Thus, EEG of the brain makes it possible to detect deviations (if any) in the electrical activity of the brain from the norm or, on the contrary, to make sure that brain activity is not disturbed. Taking into account the existing symptoms, EEG helps the doctor to establish a diagnosis, clarify the picture of the disease, assess the effectiveness of treatment. By taking care of your child’s health today, you create a prosperous future for him. After all, the preconditions of many diseases are manifested at a fairly early age, when health problems can be prevented if the correct treatment is carried out in time.

Paediatric electroencephalography is also performed to find out the level of immaturity of the child’s brain, as well as to assess the effectiveness of drugs prescribed for epilepsy.
