Cerebellar stimulation tools include:

  • Bilgo’s balance board aimed at developing co-ordination, balancing skills and dexterity (Learning Breakthrough);
  • Wii Fit interactive platform containing four categories of exercises: aerobics, physical exercises, yoga and games that improve body balance (which is successfully and actively used in the DEVELOPMENT Centre and complements classical classes);
  • a set of equipment “Training and Information System”, including a device for the development of the vestibular apparatus (vestibular platform).

What are the results?

Cerebellar stimulation is part of a comprehensive approach, and with its help it is possible to significantly improve a child’s perception of spoken and written language, develop reading skills, mathematical abilities, concentration, and stimulate memory development. Cerebellar stimulation significantly increases the effectiveness of classes with speech therapists, teachers, psychologists.

How much training is needed?

Regular lessons from daily to 3 times a week are necessary.

The course is 13-15 sessions of 30-40 minutes each.

An individual programme of cerebellar stimulation for a child is made by a neuropsychologist on the basis of a diagnostic examination.

It may seem to parents that clumsiness, balance and coordination disorders are rather the child’s peculiarities than neurological problems. But these “peculiarities” are signs of disorders of the brainstem and cerebellum. Although it has only been in use for a couple of decades, experts see a great future for it, calling it literally “the key to brain training.”

The cerebellum contains the highest concentration (over 50%) of nerve cells in relation to other parts of the brain. It maintains constant communication with the frontal lobes, which means it controls movement and sensory perception. Based on this property of the cerebellum, scientists have developed a method of working to significantly improve the ability to learn, perceive and process information.

Most children with speech problems are diagnosed with cerebellar abnormalities.

These abnormalities alone may not be the sole cause of impaired speech development.

However, overcoming cerebellar dysfunction greatly accelerates the process of correcting speech disorders.
