Areas of application

All methods of using Biofeedback can be divided into two groups: activation training and relaxation training.

  • Activating training is used in the treatment of attention deficit syndrome with predominant inattention. It has been noted that after such a course children become more attentive and their academic performance improves. Such training is also used in the treatment of asthenic conditions characterised by increased inattention.
  • Relaxation training is used in children with predominantly hyperactive and impulsive behaviour. With the help of such training it is possible to achieve a reduction in tics, fears. Children become calmer and their behaviour at school and at home improves.

The Biofeedback method is also used in the treatment of neurasthenia, migraine, headaches, tension, neuroses.

A course of Biofeedback therapy averages from 8 to 30 sessions; sessions are held 2-5 times a week, depending on the clients’ condition and capabilities, as well as their reaction to the procedures. The advantage of this method is the active participation of the patient in the correction process. The method is absolutely safe, as there is no physical impact, but psychophysiological training, during which the brain is trained to work in the correct mode.

Before the classes, the client is given a diagnostic examination, including recording and analysing the EEG. The electroencephalogram is analysed in detail and compared with the normative database. Based on the EEG analysis and initial consultation, the specialist selects training regimes for each client individually.

Exercise on specialised equipment has a long-term effect, as it helps to form stable skills of correct breathing, speech, attention, as well as the development of locomotor reactions, if necessary.

Wikipedia tells us: Biofeedback is a technology that includes a set of research, therapeutic and preventive physiological procedures, during which the patient is presented with information about the state and changes in one’s own physiological processes via an external feedback circuit on a computer.

The BOS method, despite the complex explanation of its essence, has a relatively simple procedure for the patient, accessible for understanding even for children. Moreover, the classes are held in a playful form, with a computer, which increases the attractiveness of this method.
