Areas of application
All methods of using Biofeedback can be divided into two groups: activation training and relaxation training.
- Activating training is used in the treatment of attention deficit syndrome with predominant inattention. It has been noted that after such a course children become more attentive and their academic performance improves. Such training is also used in the treatment of asthenic conditions characterised by increased inattention.
- Relaxation training is used in children with predominantly hyperactive and impulsive behaviour. With the help of such training it is possible to achieve a reduction in tics, fears. Children become calmer and their behaviour at school and at home improves.
The Biofeedback method is also used in the treatment of neurasthenia, migraine, headaches, tension, neuroses.
A course of Biofeedback therapy averages from 8 to 30 sessions; sessions are held 2-5 times a week, depending on the clients’ condition and capabilities, as well as their reaction to the procedures. The advantage of this method is the active participation of the patient in the correction process. The method is absolutely safe, as there is no physical impact, but psychophysiological training, during which the brain is trained to work in the correct mode.
