Reoencephalography (REG) is a method of diagnostic research that allows analysing the most important criteria of the state of cerebral vessels and blood flow through them.

REG is a non-traumatic, absolutely painless and quite informative method of research, it allows the doctor to assess the blood flow rate, tone, elasticity and blood filling of blood vessels in the head.

Indications:

REG diagnosis is indicated for any condition that presents with clinical symptoms of impaired cerebral circulation:

  • persistent headaches;
  • dizziness, fainting spells;
  • cerebral ischaemia;
  • visual disturbances;
  • epilepsy;
  • memory impairment;
  • learning difficulties;
  • sleep disturbances;
  • sensitivity to weather conditions;
  • hypertension;
  • multiple sclerosis;
  • encephalopathy;
  • cervical osteochondrosis;
  • diabetic microangiopathy;
  • diabetes mellitus.

Technique of reoencephalography

During the examination, the client will be in a relaxed state, lying on a couch or sitting in a chair.

The specialist applies electrodes treated with a special gel to the head, fixing them with an elastic band around the head. They send signals to the brain, and the computer screen simultaneously displays data on the state of blood vessels and blood flow in them. Which part of the brain is to be investigated, on such areas and electrodes will be applied (forehead, temples, occiput). The duration of the study takes 10-30 minutes. A person does not experience any painful sensations.

Symptoms in which the doctor-neurologist prescribes REG:

  • headaches of different character;
  • tinnitus;
  • hearing loss;
  • migraine;
  • constant increase or decrease in blood pressure;
  • facial swelling;
  • fainting spells;
  • decreased visual acuity;
  • cognitive changes;
  • impaired co-ordination of movement;
  • dependence on weather conditions.

  • safety for the client and the researcher,
  • painlessness, the ability to conduct multiple studies of cerebral blood flow even in weakened patients and children,
  • individual selection of vasoactive drugs with subsequent monitoring of the effectiveness of therapy.

The examination is not performed if the patient has abrasions, wounds, purulent-inflammatory lesions, seborrheic dermatitis, shingles, etc. in the places where electrodes are applied. Also, newborn children are not examined with the help of REG.
