What happens in ABA therapy sessions?
Before the therapist starts working on specific goals, he or she needs to make sure that the child is comfortable in the new environment. Therefore, the first few days are devoted to play.
ABA involves two main techniques: Discrete Block Training (DTT) and Natural Environment Training (NET).
The DTT method is more like standard school lessons. The child works on a specific task one-on-one with the therapist. DTT focuses on developing skills such as matching pictures, pointing to objects, imitation, maintaining eye contact, saying words, and the like.
