EEG for adults

Electroencephalography is a method of graphic registration of brain biopotentials, which allows to analyse its physiological maturity and condition, the presence of focal lesions, general cerebral disorders and their nature.

In adults, EEG helps to answer the same questions as in children:

  • exclude or confirm the diagnosis of epilepsy
  • assess the effectiveness of epilepsy treatment with special drugs
  • clarify the diagnosis in case of frequent headaches
  • confirm and clarify the cause of sleep disturbances, headaches, fainting spells
  • learn about the physiological state of the cognitive sphere (memory, thinking, attention)
  • diagnose the presence of anxiety, panic attacks, neuroses, depression.

What do I need to know, how to prepare for the procedure?

The EEG procedure is completely safe and painless.

To perform the procedure, a rubber cap with electrode contacts is placed on the patient’s head; beforehand, the specialist applies a special gel to the electrode contacts.

The procedure of routine (ordinary) EEG takes 15 minutes.

No special preparation is required, it is recommended to wash the head before the study for better contact of electrodes.
